About this role
Cisco builds networking, security and infrastructure technology for organizations worldwide. This role is on its internal Platform as a Service team, which runs API gateways, Kafka messaging and other middleware. The engineer builds portals, dashboards and backend services that help development teams onboard and operate on those platforms.
What you will do
- Build platform portals and dashboards using React or Angular with Python and/or Go backends
- Develop and maintain REST APIs and microservices for platform workflows
- Contribute to PaaS offerings including Mashery, Mule and Kafka messaging
- Work in CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Argo CD and Argo Workflows, and support Kubernetes deployments
- Write clean, testable code and take part in code reviews
- Help with troubleshooting, defect fixes and on-call support
What the employer expects
- 3+ years of full-stack software engineering
- React or Angular, with solid JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS
- Python and/or Go for backend services, including REST API design
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB or similar databases
- Familiarity with CI/CD and containers (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Nice to have: API gateways or Kafka, GenAI tooling, observability, microservices
