About this role
Amgen is a biotechnology company that develops and manufactures medicines. This role sits in its Operations GenAI product team and builds Python backends, APIs and LLM-powered workflows for Process Development groups, along with some React front-end work.
What you will do
- Build and maintain Python backend services and APIs with FastAPI and Django
- Contribute to React front-end components for GenAI web apps
- Integrate LLM features such as RAG, prompt engineering and agent workflows
- Write tested code and take part in GitHub code reviews
- Troubleshoot issues and support reliability and performance
- Turn product, design and business needs into technical requirements
What the employer expects
- Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years in Python, backend/web or GenAI development
- Strong Python skills including debugging, testing and design patterns
- FastAPI backend API experience
- Working knowledge of React.js
- Familiarity with LLM applications or LLM APIs
- Git/GitHub, SQL/NoSQL (PostgreSQL), vector databases and semantic search
- Experience with a GenAI/agent framework like LangChain or LlamaIndex
- Exposure to microservices, serverless, CI/CD and observability
