About this role
Amgen is a biotechnology company that discovers, makes and delivers medicines. This role is in the Operations GenAI Product team, building generative AI web apps for Process Development groups. The engineer owns Python backend services and LLM workflows and helps with React front ends.
What you will do
- Build Python backend services and APIs with FastAPI and Django
- Contribute React front-end components
- Support LLM apps including RAG, prompt engineering and agent workflows
- Write tested code and join GitHub code reviews
- Troubleshoot issues and improve reliability and performance
- Work with product, design and business teams on requirements
- Keep up with new GenAI technologies
What the employer expects
- Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years in Python, backend or GenAI development
- Strong Python skills including testing and data structures
- Experience building APIs with FastAPI
- Working knowledge of React.js
- Familiarity with LLM-based applications
- Experience with Git and GitHub
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL
- Experience with vector databases and a GenAI or agent framework
