About this role
Gather is building an AI-native work communication tool, and Grapevine is its product that gives AI agents structured context across workplace tools. The staff engineer builds the ingestion stack, a privacy/governance engine and the product surfaces on top.
What you will do
- Build integrations to new external platforms
- Build the privacy and governance engine
- Craft product experiences on the knowledge system
- Prototype company-specific AI tools such as chatbots and workflow automation
- Mentor other engineers on AI applications
What the employer expects
- Strong backend development from problem to deployment
- Modern web tech (Vite, TypeScript, Python)
- Experience building AI systems (MCPs, agents, LLM APIs)
- Proficiency with AI-native coding tools
- Strong debugging skills with ambiguous problems
