About this role

AuthZed created SpiceDB, an open-source permissions database inspired by Google Zanzibar, and sells authorization infrastructure built on it. The senior engineer works on SpiceDB and related open-source projects, covering query planning, performance and reliability.

What you will do

  • Design, implement and release features across SpiceDB and AuthZed OSS projects
  • Drive best practices in testing and CI/CD
  • Operate what you build, including on-call rotation
  • Troubleshoot correctness and performance in a distributed system
  • Work with users and contributors in the open
  • Write technical documentation, blogs and talks

What the employer expects

  • 5+ years in Go, Python, Java or similar
  • Systems engineering background (distributed systems, databases)
  • Experience debugging complex production systems
  • Cloud infrastructure and distributed database experience
  • CI/CD, Docker and Git
  • Strong communication and remote collaboration
