About this role
Icarus builds solar-powered autonomous aircraft that fly at 60,000 feet for weeks delivering persistent intelligence. This role owns end-to-end software systems for flight operations, autonomy, telemetry, and operator interfaces.
What you will do
- Build and own end-to-end software systems for flight operations and autonomy
- Develop mission-critical backend services for telemetry, command and control, and analytics
- Build frontends for ground control and monitoring
- Design APIs and data pipelines connecting aircraft and users
- Work closely with embedded, avionics, and operations teams
- Support flight test and rapid iteration with real flight data
What the employer expects
- 2+ years building full-stack software in production
- Strong backend experience in Python, Go, Rust or similar
- Strong frontend experience in React, TypeScript or similar
- Experience designing APIs, databases, and distributed systems
- Comfort working close to hardware and real-time systems
- Ability to move fast and debug under pressure
