About this role
Oportun is a Nasdaq-listed fintech offering loans, savings and budgeting tools. This newly created role sits in its 24/7 cyber security operations centre. The analyst investigates security events, helps contain and remediate incidents, and escalates threats.
What you will do
- Monitor and analyse traffic, security events and alerts
- Assess impact of incidents and the remediation needed
- Investigate intrusion attempts by correlating multiple sources
- Follow SOPs for detecting, classifying and reporting incidents
- Analyse EDR, firewall, NIDS, HIDS and system logs
- Contain, analyse and eradicate malicious activity
- Escalate incidents and threat indicators to stakeholders
- Find practical uses of AI tools to reduce manual work
What the employer expects
- 2+ years of SOC experience (internships count)
- Splunk SIEM and security device log analysis
- Hands-on incident handling and L1 ticket triage
- TCP/IP, OSI layers and intrusion detection knowledge
- Web application architecture, Active Directory, HTTP/SMTP/DNS
- Understanding of malware types
- Nice to have: Security+ or similar certification
